Transaction Monitoring

A flawless digital experience

Transaction Monitoring: proactive insights on the end-user experience

A smart user experience is key to the success of digital transformations and remote working. Modern monitoring software, such as Transaction Monitoring, provides the solution for this. It continuously monitors the functionality of all systems - from application to end-user. Performance problems are quickly identified, even before they occur. As a result, a flawless digital experience is assured for your organization.

Traditional monitoring tools are not enough

Since the internet has existed, software has been available to monitor network traffic. For a long time, that was enough to detect problems within a company's own network. End-user devices and applications running on the hardware in an on-premises data center were all located within that network. Increasing levels of hybrid or remote working mean that a growing number of organizations are migrating their applications and services to the cloud. That means traditional monitoring tools no longer offer enough insight on the issues affecting end-user experience.

That’s because traditional monitoring software focuses on the performance of in-house applications and specific servers, while end-users can directly access dozens of applications in the cloud via the internet. As a result, these tools do not provide insights on the real-time end-user experience. After all, organizations cannot install their own monitoring software on cloud vendors' servers.

End-user experience is crucial

More and more organizations are therefore moving to Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) platforms. DEM solutions monitor and analyze the quality of end-user interactions. While traditional monitoring software focuses on the application and IT service technical performance, DEM accounts for the entire IT environment. The end-user experience is central to this.

Many organizations have hundreds, sometimes thousands, of SaaS applications in the cloud, which are essential to business processes. By applying DEM to identify performance issues and analyze the end-user experience, organizations gain insights on the entire IT chain. This allows them to proactively improve processes and address issues. Most organizations choose a mix of DEM solutions. One such solution for maintaining visibility over the end-user experience is Synthetic Transaction Monitoring (STM).

Automated and Simulated Actions with Synthetic Transaction Monitoring

Synthetic Transaction Monitoring works by sending automated simulated actions to applications, to simulate a typical end-user. These actions are executed at regular intervals (e.g. every 15 minutes). They can be initiated from single or multiple locations. Actions, such as opening an application or ordering a product, are continuously monitored. Performance is measured, as is availability to the end-user. The resulting measurements are used to create reliable, independent availability and performance KPI reports. Organizations can use these KPI reports to manage (internal or external) suppliers, get an objective picture of the end-user experience, make well-informed decisions, and optimize the digital experience.

Proactive insights on IT performance with STM

By applying DEM solutions, you can gain deep insights on the user’s digital experience. This will ensure that performance is proactively monitored, and problems are quickly identified. SaaS, cloud, and private end-user applications can all be monitored. Sentia offers DEM solutions that include 24/7 support and quality control, empowering you to optimize your organization's IT performance.
